Laminate Countertops

A sample of a kitchen with laminate countertops. The image shows a kitchen with white flat panel cabinets in an L-shaped configuration with an island and stainless steel appliances (stove, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher). The countertops have a white/gray marble design. Three gray leather upholstered chair stools are arrange along the right side of the island. Along the far left end of the row of cabinets are a floor to ceiling pantry cupboard and a china cabinet with glass door inserts with five drawers below.

Affordable and durable, laminate countertops are a great low-maintenance option. Made of a thin sheet of high-pressure laminate bonded to particle board, these countertops are custom made to fit your kitchen. Our laminate countertop partner, Flo Form, has been supplying us with quality countertops since 1985. Flo Form has two laminate collections: Post-Form laminate can be heated and bent to create a wrapped profile on the front edge (180° under-wrap or K-nose), as well as an integrated backsplash. Post-Form laminate can provide a seamless top up to 12 feet long. Flat Lay laminate allows for custom shapes and sizes, with a seamless surface up to 12 feet by 5 feet; backsplashes are attached, not integrated.

Why Laminate?

One of the greatest appeals of laminate — other than its budget friendliness — is its availability in over 150 colours and textures. Under normal use, laminate is resistant to scratches and impacts. It’s also easy to clean — usually just a damp cloth and non-abrasive cleanser is all you need.

Take Note

Seams are guaranteed for laminate spans greater than 12 feet. Corner seams are common, and all seams should be kept away from sinks and other water sources. Laminate is a thin material that can be damaged, so proper care is required. Countertop replacement is generally required if laminate is extensively chipped, cracked, burned or scratched.
